Mahanga, Jan 18: Two sisters were killed in a road accident on Kuanpal-Balichandrapur RD road under Mahanga police station in Cuttack district Sunday, while another of their kin was injured.
A report said Annapurna Mohanty (61), wife of Dharnidhar Mohanty of Kanhupur village in Bijepur panchayat and her sister Aparna (57) were pillion riding on a bike driven by Mahendra (son of Annapurna) to Balichandrapur to purchase sarees for a marriage ceremony.
At Kuanpal bazaar, an unknown vehicle hit the bike in the afternoon. The sisters and Mahendra were seriously wounded and were rushed to the local hospital, where the two were declared dead on arrival. On being informed, local police rushed to the spot and seized the bike besides sending the bodies for post-mortem.
