Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi Monday wrote to all the district collectors to ensure zero tolerance towards any form of corrupt practice during execution of rural housing schemes.
He said more than 11.5 lakh pucca houses had been constructed during the last three financial years, but the success was marred by a few occurrences of corruption by some officials and non-officials.
To ensure transparency in implementation of the scheme, Padhi asked the collectors to personally monitor the entire gamut of activities adding that the government would judge the performance of the collectors in this effort.
“Strict vigil will be maintained and officials and non-officials indulging in corrupt practices will be awarded stringent punishment, including departmental proceedings. Criminal proceedings may also be initiated against the guilty. Timely and exemplary punitive action would serve as a deterrent to check the corrupt tendencies,” Padhi warned.
The list of eligible households has already been published in gram panchayat (GP) offices, Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), school buildings, and other institutions.
About one lakh objections on exclusion of ineligible beneficiaries have been received which will be immediately enquired into.
Notably, the government has opened a state-level toll free helpline number – 18003456768 which will be operational from 10am to 5pm on working days.
