Sonepur/Sambalpur: Four persons including two siblings died while six persons were injured in separate road mishaps in Subarnapur and Sambalpur districts.
In the first incident, two siblings died and a driver was injured after a passenger bus collided with a Mahindra Bolero at Kulipali Square on Khurda-Bolangir National Highway-57 under Sonepur police limits late Monday night.
The deceased were identified as Ranjan Sa (27) and his younger brother Nilanchal Sa (25), sons of Abadhut Sa of Baghia village under Tarabha police limits in Subarnapur district.
Police said Nilanchal underwent an operation in a Cuttack hospital after fracturing his leg in a road mishap August 22.
The siblings were returning home after Nilanchal was discharged from the hospital. They were travelling in a Mahindra Bolero when a Bhubaneswar-bound passenger bus ‘Chakadola’ from Bhawanipatna collided with their vehicle at Kulipali Square at 1 am leading to their deaths. The Bolero driver Netra Kumura was hurt while all the bus passengers escaped unhurt.
In the second incident, two persons died after a jeep in which they were travelling overturned after hitting against a road divider near Lakshmidunguri under Khetrajpur police limits in Sambalpur district. Driver Munindra Behera (25) and Naveen Gadnaik (26) died on the spot.
Four persons – Nikunja Sahu, Sukanti Gadnaik, Chiman Gadnaik and Dileshwar Gadnaik sustained critical injuries and were admitted to VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla while another person with minor injuries was discharged after primary treatment.
The seven persons were on their way to VIMSAR for treatment of Chiman. Police handed over the bodies to the bereaved families after post-mortem and registered a case. PNN
