Bhubaneswar: Youth Congress president Uday Bhanu Chib Thursday alleged that people are facing an LPG crisis due to the faulty foreign policy of the Centre.
Addressing a ‘Yuvakranti Samavesh’ organised by the Odisha unit of Youth Congress, Chib claimed that despite assurances by the Union government on adequate fuel supply, people were being forced to buy cooking gas cylinders at over Rs 3,500 in the black market.
Due to the failure of foreign policy, people are forced to buy LPG at exorbitant rates, he alleged, blaming the Centre for the situation.
He claimed that several small food stalls and restaurants have shut down due to the crisis.
On unemployment, Chib alleged that over 12 lakh youths have registered for jobs in the state, while around 2 lakh posts remain vacant.
The Youth Congress chief also claimed that the state government failed to provide safety and security to minority communities and women in the state.
On the recent fire incident at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, he demanded the resignation of the health minister on moral grounds.
During the UPA regime, whenever a train accident took place, the railway minister resigned on moral grounds. But now, the BJP government owes no moral responsibility to the people, he claimed.
He demanded that the BJP-led NDA government immediately scrap the anti-farmer US trade deal.
Chib affirmed that until this deal is revoked, Congress will continue its protests across the country.
When Youth Congress members were marching towards the Assembly, police stopped them and detained several supporters, including Chib, a police officer said.
