Kesinga: Railway police seized Rs 40 lakh in cash from a youth at Kesinga Railway Station under the Sambalpur Railway Division and detained him for questioning, officials said.
Acting on a tip-off that a youth was carrying a large amount of cash in a bag, the Titlagarh Railway Police conducted a search operation at the station Friday. During the check, the police intercepted the youth and recovered the cash from his possession.
The detained individual has been identified as Prabhat Samuel (34), a resident of West Bengal. During preliminary questioning, he reportedly told police that he had collected the money from a businessman in the Kesinga area and was on his way to Raipur.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer Tribikram Seth confirmed the seizure and detention. He said senior officials from Sambalpur and the Income Tax Department are expected to arrive to carry out a detailed investigation into the source of the cash.
Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the probe, officials added.
