Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested 13 people, including four students, after raiding a gambling den in Kalinga Vihar area in Tamando police limits late Friday night.
The police seized cash worth Rs 1.43 lakh and playing cards from the scene. Among the arrested, four are B.Sc students of a private college at Madanpur.
The arrested have been identified as: Chudangadev Sahu ,21, Saban Swain ,20, and Surya Pratap Sahu ,24, of Deogarh; Manoj Kumar Sahu ,28, and Basant Kumar Singh ,38, of Simulia in Balasore district; P Laxminarayan Patra ,44, of Hadagandia area in Town police limits in Puri; Kanhu Charan Mallick ,37, of Chandanpur; Surendra Sahu ,38, of Daitapada Sahi in Town police limits; Dilip Kumar Barik ,35, of Ganjam; Pradip Kumar Sahu ,50, of Berhampur; Chinmay Hansh ,20, of Nuapada; Rakesh Kumar Jena ,27, of Bhanjanagar in Ganjam; and manager of the gambling racket Rajesh Prusty ,40, a resident of Kadalibaripatna in Sadar police limits in Puri.
Tamando inspector-in-charge Atanu Kumar Rout said acting on a tip-off, a quick action team of Commissionerate Police and Tamando Police had raided the premises at Plot No 379 of Kalinga Vihar area Friday night and arrested the accused.
A case was registered and the accused were produced in court Saturday, Rout added. PNN
