Cuttack: Ashutosh Padhy emerged champion in the Ist All Orissa Open 6-Red Snooker Championship after beating Subrat Das 6 (11)4 in the final at the Golden King Snooker Club here Sunday.
Cue prince Ashutosh won the first frame and Subrata leveled and the balance fight continued till 3-3. From the seventh frame onwards Ashutosh played skillfully till he made it 5-3 with some calculative and tricky snooker not giving any chances to Subrat. Subrat struck back to manage a frame more to make it 5-4 but was unable to stop Ashutosh, who played with great flow to win by 6-4.
OCA election
Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) will most likely hold its election for the post of various office bearers by the end of November as per the recommendations of Lodha Committee.
The decision has been taken in the OCA council meeting here Sunday. All the officials of OCA unanimously agreed to abide by the reforms made by the Supreme Court appointed panel.
“We will conduct the election very soon and we are fully ready for it. We will file an affidavit in the Supreme Court in a day or two stating that we are abide by the recommendations of Lodha Committee. The by-laws will be changed accordingly. We just hope that the process will be completed by the end of November,” stated OCA working committee chairman Dhiren Palai.
“BCCI and all other state cricket bodies are bound to follow the panel’s guidelines,” he added.
