Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has invited aluminium downstream manufacturers to invest in the Anugola Aluminium Park, highlighting the availability of raw materials, industry-ready infrastructure and investment incentives to attract industries engaged in value-added manufacturing.
The investment pitch was made at a roadshow held in Kolkata Monday, organised by the National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) in association with the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM). Representatives of Odisha’s investment promotion agency, IPICOL, and industrial infrastructure development agency, IDCO, participated in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy described Odisha as a major centre of India’s aluminium industry. He said the country’s Aluminium Vision envisages a six-fold increase in aluminium production by 2047. Highlighting the state’s contribution of around 60–70 per cent of India’s aluminium production and more than 70 per cent of its bauxite production, Reddy encouraged industries in West Bengal to explore investment opportunities in Odisha.
He described Odisha as a natural partner for the growth of aluminium downstream manufacturing, given its established industrial base. Keshav Chandra, Secretary in the Union Ministry of Mines, said a major expansion of NALCO’s operations in the state was under consideration.
The proposed expansion could increase the availability of raw materials and strengthen the foundation for further investment in downstream industries, he added. The roadshow showcased the Anugola Aluminium Park, a joint venture between IDCO and NALCO, as a dedicated industrial hub for aluminium ancillary and downstream manufacturing units.
Located close to NALCO’s aluminium smelter, the park offers manufacturers access to primary aluminium, while its industrial infrastructure, common facilities and dedicated molten-metal transportation corridor are designed to facilitate efficient production and value addition. During the programme, IPICOL reiterated its commitment to facilitating investments by assisting companies with land identification, statutory approvals, incentives and project implementation.
