Nayagarh/Dasapalla: Yet another case of taking a patient on trolley to hospital in full public view owing to ambulance failure has come to light in this district, exposing the tall claims of the health department about immediate availability of ambulance service.
The incident was reported from Krushnachandrapur patana under Dasapalla Notified Area Council in this district. Musha Nahaka, 60, of Krushnachandrapur patana complained of head reeling and fell sick while working on his farmland. On being informed by other farmers, his family members rushed to the spot and dialled 108 for ambulance facility.
After waiting for about an hour, when the ambulance did not turn up, Sushanta, son of Musha, finding no other way out, carried his father on his trolley meant for carrying paddy. He pulled the trolley covering a stretch of 3 km to reach Dasapalla Community Health Centre.
When asked, Dasapalla CHC health officer Dr Naba Kishore Sahoo said the ambulance had gone somewhere else when it was needed for Musha. Talking about his health condition, the doctor said Musha had felt his head reeling due to an increase in blood pressure.
Chief District Medical Officer Dr Suresh Chandra Mishra said that the ambulance service is managed from state capital. He is looking into the matter, he added. PNN
