Bhubaneswar, March 21: The government has asked state-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to create an industry work culture where the attendance and punctuality of both the trainees and trainers are given top priority.
The government has also asked the institutes to install and operate industrial sirens at the beginning and end of each shift, as part of measures to improve the quality of training at these institutes. They have also been asked to maintain trade-wise attendance registers of trainees.
Under the guidelines, these institutes will also have to install biometric attendance systems and online reporting systems, which will also be applicable for the trainees. Principals have been asked to make rounds of the units during each shift to observe the attendance and attentiveness of trainees and the quality of instruction imparted by trainers.
The ITIs will also have to maintain leave registers of all trainees. Names of those who are absent without authorization for more than 10 days will be struck up from the rolls. Attendance should not fall short of 80 per cent.Week-wise jobs and master jobs should be well planned and according to the prescribed schedules for each trade and the management should take appropriate action for procurement of material.Faculty members will have to counsel students every weekend or on a fortnightly basis. Under the guidelines, students will have to undergo monthly practical and theoretical tests.
