Baripada: Three inmates from Muktimarg Ashram at Tulasichaura in this town, have set out for Puri, covering all the distance by foot to have the darshan of Lord Jagannath.
They are Bishnu Sahankar Rout, Baidhar Parida and Laxman Barik.
Everyone who is coming across them is reminded of the saga of Bhakta Salabeg, who travelled 750 ‘kosh’ (A kosh is about 3.07 km) to get a glimpse of Lord Jagannath in Puri.
Wearing traditional dhotis and headgear, with ‘gamuchhas’ across their shoulders, the trio, who started their journey Monday, has so far crossed Markona in Balasore district.
After spending the Wednesday night at Markona, they resumed their journey Thursday morning.
During their journey, covering 350 km, they will neither take shelter under any roof nor have food from hotels.
When they feel tired, they would take rest only under the roadside tree.
They have only some sacred food items with them which would see them through the journey.
About their purpose of the journey, Bishnu Shankar Rout says their only aim is to propagate the concept of Jagannath Sanskruti in the society.
Muktimarg Ashram spokesperson Arun Kumar Mohapatra says the ongoing journey is not the first one. Including this, they have so far visited Puri four times making people aware about Jagannath Sanskruti, he adds.
The journey normally takes 10 days. After Jagannath darshan during the car festival, they would return to the ashram in a special vehicle provided by the ashram.
