Nuapada: Two days after a 13-year old boy went missing from a Gurukul Ashram here, police found his body from an abandoned well between Haripur- Junani, about 7 km from the district headquarters Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Ujjwal Arya, a student of a Gurukul ashram at Haripur and a native of Dongargarh in Chhattisgarh. He was studying in the Gurukul and was living there.
The matter came to fore when locals noticed the body in the well and informed the Ashram authorities and police.
Sources said Ujjwal went missing from the Ashram Thursday. The Ashram authorities searched for him after coming to know about him missing in the prayer class Thursday. Family members also arrived and joined the search operations but in vain.
In the meanwhile, there was tension in the village when the police failed to arrive on time. The villagers refused to leave the body, demanding a through probe to ascertain the exact reason behind the death.
Police managed to pacify them later and assured them of a propoer probe. Later, Nuapada police sent the body for post-mortem and registred a case.
When contacted, police IIC Durga Madhav Pradhan said a probe is on and the cause of the death will be known once the autopsy report is made available. PNN
