Barang : Visitors to the state Botanical Garden here have yet another reason to visit ‘The Garden of Heaven’ with the Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) authorities introducing boat rides, Wednesday.
This is in addition to the existing boat rides offered at Nandankanan, which started in 2007. Initially, eight boats have been pressed into service. “Boats for two persons will cost Rs 50, while those with seating capacity of four will charge Rs 100,” said an official of NZP. The boarding points have been made a few metres off the entry gate to the left.
The first day was a sell-out, officials said, with visitors, especially couples, taking the joyrides to bathe and immerse themselves in the scenic beauty of Kanjia Lake. Sources said boat rides were introduced in the NZP for the first time April 6, 2007. The NZP had earned Rs 3.64 lakh in 2007 which went up to Rs 20.50 lakh in 2017.
