Junagarh (Kalahandi): In a bizarre incident, a woman refused to tie the nuptial knot to a man after she found him in a drunken state at their wedding ceremony at Dundelmal village in Junagarh of Kalahandi district.
Villagers called a meeting to resolve the matter. But the girl was adamant and rejected the marriage before the village committee.
According to sources, the marriage of Dipanjali Naik was fixed with Amit Naik, a resident of the Bastipada in Dharmagarh area of this district, a few days ago.
All arrangements had been made and the marriage was scheduled to be held February 21. Following the schedule, the groom had reached the bride’s place with a huge procession.
Amit, along with his friends, is said to have consumed liquor before the marriage procession started. Interestingly, he himself began dancing at the procession and was uncontrollable.
However, the alcohol content in his system got the better of Amit by the time he reached the venue where he lost control of self and fell unconscious.
Fed up with Amit’s hooliganism and alcoholism, Dipanjali had decided to call off the marriage before any ritual could begin. Supported by her family members, Dipanjali walked away from the pandal even though Amit’s family members tried hard to do some damage control.
With no option left, Amit along with his kith and kin had to return home without the bride.
