Berhampur: Bodoland University vice-chancellor Pradip K Patra who was here Monday to deliver a lecture conducted by PG Department of English in Berhampur University dwelt upon the uniqueness of Indian literature in its “multilingual and multicultural diversities”.
Deliberating on “Literary Cosmopolitanism and Comparative Literature” at the BKT Library in the department, Prof Patra compared various literatures and their ideological frameworks and said the West is bogged down by theories whereas Indian literature is unique despite its rich cultural diversity. He also spoke at length on various aspects of Panchatantra and drew parallels from global literature.
The lecture was attended among others by Dr Balabhadra Tripathy, Dr Shruti Das, Prof Ram Narayan Panda, Dr T Eswar Rao, Anil Kumar Tiriya and teachers from affiliated colleges, scholars and students. Earlier, Prof Patra inaugurated “Antaray”, a compilation of Odia short stories by Ramnarayan Panda.
