Bhubaneswar, August 9:To motivate children towards filmmaking the Children’s’ Film Society of India organised the screening of a children’s film in 10 schools of the city in association with Centre for Youth development activities and Emerge Productions Pvt. Ltd. The film society also screened three films – Happy Mother’s day directed by Anjuli Shukla, Bhago Bhoot- The Ghost directed by Sai Paranjpye and Baajo directed by AK Bir at Idcol Auditorium, Wednesday. The films were produced by Children Film Society of India (CFSI). Filmmaker Gadadhar Putty and Ujjwal Chaudhary, Director of Ramoji Krion University were some of the dignitaries who were present on the occasion. Students of Buxi Jagabandhu English Medium (BJEM) School watched the film with much enthusiasm. On the occasion Filmmaker Putty said, “In the country very few films are made for the children and with no options left they have to watch violent films in the name of entertainment which is harmful for the development of the child’s mentality. The children must be shown good entertaining films and motivational films which will add some positive thinking in someway.” On the occasion Chaudhary said that “the filmmaking is a multi-million dollar business and the filmmaker sometime is forced to change his story due to huge pressure from the film producer, so the focus on children film sometimes loses its focus.” But, he insisted that the children’s film is very important and if right amount of mind and focus is given then these films can be both profitable and entertaining. He cited the example of Satyajit Ray who was referred to as a genius filmmaker who directed Sonar Kella, a children’s movie. Happy Mother’s day was a story that revolved around two children who are brothers and sisters in the movie- Vicky and Kaku. Belonging to a poor family who lived in a small hilly town of Pragpur, their parents toiled hard to educate their children in the only English medium school in the region. Several kids from the adjoining villages also, studied in the school. The movie was a treat for the children watch. The movie portrayed a loving, homely environment, with its own share of discipline, caring, fun and innocence. One day Vicky’s classmate Sachin introduces him to the culture of Mothers Day which Vicky eventually tries to celebrate it at home to express his true love for his mother.
