New Delhi, Nov 30: A foot injury early in the year derailed her plans but ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu is happy to make a successful comeback with a good performance at the Denmark Super Series Premier and a third successive Macau Grand Prix Gold title.
Sindhu finished runner-up at Denmark Open, her maiden Super Series final this season, and then clinched her first trophy of the year at the Macau Open, Sunday.
The 20-year-old from Hyderabad has now set her eyes on the Indonesia Masters Grand Prix Gold starting December 1.
“It was a great win. I am really happy. My immediate target now is Indonesia,” Sindhu stated. “It was a hat-trick of titles at Macau and overall it was a good performance. (Minatsu) Mitani is a good player. I lost to her at the Japan Open so I am happy and satisfied that I could beat her and win the title.”
Sindhu asserted that she will try and have a better 2016 than what she did it in 2015. “I start off in January with the IBL (Indian Badminton League),” informed Sindhu. “Then there are the Indian Open and Syed Modi Open events. But for me each and every tournament is important and I am keen to do well in each one. I just want to play more in 2016 without any injury worries.
It was a rollercoaster ride for Sindhu this season as she lost a lot of time after suffering a navicular stress fracture in her left leg, which kept her out of action for approximately four months and she missed out on important tournaments like the All England.
“Injuries are a part of life, we can’t decide on that. I could not play for 3-4 months. It was really very difficult, but I was patient,” stated Sindhu. “I knew that I had to be strong mentally. That is what is most important,” added the shuttler.
Sindhu also clarified that she is yet to reach her peak. “Disturbing for me is that I am losing quite a few matches after leading. At Macau also, I could have closed out the final in two games, but I faltered. I do not want to make such mistakes in future,” Sindhu informed.
