Rourkela: A contractor was shot at by two bike-borne miscreants near Sarubahal pond under Bisra police limits in Sundargarh district Sunday evening.
The victim identified as Bharat Mahato (25) who sustained critical injuries in the attack was admitted to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) here.
According to reports, a football match was organised at Barasuan Sunday afternoon. Bharat along with his friend was returning home on a motorcycle after the match when the two bike-borne miscreants chasing from behind fired four rounds at Bharat. While Bharat jumped off his bike and ran for his life, his friend had a narrow escape.
However, Bharat sustained bullet injuries on his hand and waist when two bullets hit him.
The attackers fled the spot after committing the crime.
The exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.
On being informed, Bisra police reached the spot, started investigation and launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
