Bhubaneswar: Ahead of Jagar festival at Lingaraj temple, the commissionerate police asked the airport authority Tuesday to find out legal provisions for flying drone over the temple for security reasons.
At a meeting with officials of Biju Patnaik International Airport, Lingaraj temple, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and representatives of various Nijogas of Lord Lingaraj at the commissionerate police headquarters, commissioner RP Sharma put forth several proposals to heighten the temple security.
Sharma asked ASI authorities to built two watch towers inside the temple and raise the height of rear boundary wall. He directed the authorities to remove encroachment from the protected site.
The police asked the temple administration to engage private security guards for routine frisking of visitors at the entrance, replace old CCTVs with new ones and steps for better lighting inside and around the temple.
It was the third meeting held by the commissionerate police to plan out security arrangements for Lingaraj temple in recent months.
