Cuttack: Police arrested three associates of Dhalasamanta brothers and seized three mausers, one pistol, 10 live bullets, one motorcycle and three cell phones from them in late night raids Wednesday.
The arrested were identified as Prakash Behera alias Babua and Debendra Behera alias Tutu of New Colony at Sheikh Bazaar under Lalbag police limits and Samirkanta Sharma alias Nanda of Sabarsahi area in Gandarpur.
On being informed about some crucial clues about the arms supply racket of the Dhalasamanta brothers, deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Sanjeev Arora had asked the police to form a team to nab the suppliers. A team led by ACP Pramod Rath and Markatnagar IIC Bimal Barik and Lalbag IIC Debabrata Boral and special squads conducted raids at New Colony and arrested Babua. After interrogating Babua, the police came to know about two other accused and arrested them.
Babua has been supplying guns to Dhalasamanta brothers and other criminals in the city since 2010. In 2013, Mangalabag police had seized two guns, four magazines and 10 live bullets from him. Babua have seven cases pending against him at Lalbag, Cantonment, Manglabag and Markatnagar police station.
