Hatadihi: Persons with disabilities and their relatives faced hardship due to poor arrangements at a Bhima Bhoi disability camp held at the Hatadihi block office in Kendujhar district Friday.
The camp, scheduled to begin at 10 am, reportedly started after 12:30 pm, leaving many people who had arrived as early as 8 am waiting for hours without food. The tented area was waterlogged, forcing many participants to sit or stand outside.
They were exposed to scorching heat before heavy rain lashed the area. Several people were seen taking shelter under umbrellas or standing with chairs over their heads. The camp also lacked electricity, with doctors reportedly examining patients using torchlights.
Participants and relatives expressed resentment over the arrangements and alleged poor management despite government support for such camps. Hatadihi BDO Ranjan Kumar Parida said the difficulties arose due to adverse weather conditions.
