Bhubaneswar: As part of its initiatives for development of mineral-bearing areas and mining affected people, the state government has asked the departments concerned to identify and build a shelf of projects to be executed under DMF Fund in next three years.
Chairing a high-level meeting Saturday to review the progress made on executing various projects taken under District Mineral Foundation (DMF), Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi directed the secretaries of the line departments to complete the process in one month.
The collectors of Angul, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar and Sundargarh were also present at the meeting held through video conferencing.
The secretaries of line departments and collectors were asked to identify and build a shelf of projects at least three times of the annual accrual in the DMF fund under high-priority and other priority areas indicated in the Orissa DMF Trust Rules, Padhi said.
“About Rs 5,000 crore to Rs 6,000 crore would be spent in these five districts in the next three years,” Padhi told reporters.
The high priority areas include drinking water, health, education, women & child welfare, nutrition etc. The other priority areas include infrastructure, electricity and irrigation among others.
These projects are to be forwarded to the respective DMF Trust Boards through Planning & Convergence department for their consideration.
The Chief Secretary further directed the line departments to strengthen their field formations by redeployment for faster implementation of the DMF sponsored projects.
The total contribution received in the DMF till October 2017 is Rs 3,548 crore. The total amount allocated for projects, schemes and works sanctioned for funding out of DMF is Rs 1,862 crore. The DMF collection in the districts of Angul, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar and Sundargarh comes to about Rs 3,414 crore, sources said
