Barang: Chandaka police Tuesday arrested a woman for allegedly strangling a child to death, under the influence of alcohol, at Khandalei Mundasahi in Binjhagiri village Monday.
The arrested was identified as Sangeeta Chhatar, the aunt of the deceased kid.
According to sources, the two-and-a-half-year-old Krushna was staying with his uncle Madan Chhatar and aunt Sangeeta, both labourers, after the death of his mother.
On Monday night, Madan, Sangeeta and some neighbours had some country liquor, while Krushna was crying. Sangeeta tried to calm him down but failed to do so. An enraged Sangeeta hit Krushna’s head and later strangulated the kid, resulting in his death.
Chandaka police station IIC Sunil Kumar Behera reached the spot and arrested Sangeeta, who later confessed to the crime. A case (124/18) was registered in this regard.
