Chhatrapur: Ganjam district police Tuesday accorded a Guard of Honour to ASI Sibaram Das who died due to COVID-19 Monday. Ganjam SP Brijesh Kumar Rai was present here during the Guard of Honour for the departed COVID-19 warrior. A two-minute silence was also observed. Local sarpanch Pitambar Panda offered floral tributes to the deceased. Das, a resident of Podapadar village was posted at Tarasing police station.
“Paying homage to our frontline COVID-19 warrior, ASI Sibaram Das of Tarasing PS who succumbed to COVID-19 in line of duty. May God give enough strength to the bereaved family members to overcome this situation. Entire Ganjam police is with his family,” Rai later tweeted.
Heaping praise on the policemen, the SP said, “Our police COVID-19 warriors have been discharging their duties diligently. So far we have lost two ASIs, one constable and one home guard. In coming days, because of their sacrifice we will win the battle against coronavirus.”
