Keonjhar: In a shocking incident, a youth in an inebriated state thrashed his father to death with the help of his friend over a petty family issue at Gohitangi village under Pandapada police limits in Keonjhar district Tuesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Rabi Nayak (40), father of the accused Rasananda Nayak. The other accused was identified as Dullabh Nayak.
According to sources, Rasananda and his friend Dullabh came to the former’s house in a drunken state. Meanwhile, Rabi who was present in the house, spotted the two and an heated argument ensued between them over some issue.
It took an ugly turn after Rasananda and Durlabha attacked Rabi with a lathi. The duo thrashed him, leading to his death on the spot.
Villagers and other family members rushed to the rescue of the man, but in vain. It was too late as Rabi died due to excess loss of bleeding in the assault.
After getting information, police reached the village and launched a probe. The body was seized and sent for autopsy while the two were detained for interrogation.
