Jeypore: The government has directed the authorities concerned to change the name of sub-divisional hospital here to district headquarters hospital (DHH). An order in this regard was received Saturday here.
The order should be carried out in the next four to five days, it was learnt. Earlier, the government had announced to upgrade the sub-divisional hospital into DHH.
Acting on the order, the district headquarter hospital in Koraput was shifted to Jeypore. The staff of Koraput DHH including doctors, paramedical staff and other employees were relieved from Koraput and asked to join the newly formed DHH at Jeypore. As per the order, 10 doctors, seven specialists, 11 staff nurses, two radiographers and 10 class four employees have already joined the DHH at Jeypore.
On the other hand, the newly built Mother and Child Health (MCH) hospital at Phulabada would become operational in 10 days.
Meanwhile, all the wards are now functioning at the sub-divisional hospital. However, the same would be shifted again to the MCH. The urban health centre, which is running at present in the MCH, would be shifted to the sub-divisional hospital. At the end, a major hospital would be set up on PPP mode in the sub-divisional hospital in Jeypore.
At present, construction of a building on MCH premises is underway on a war footing to accommodate the indoor wards of the district headquarters hospital. All three health centres – urban health centre, indoor ward of the DHH and MCH hospital – have been connected with NH-26 with erection of boundary wall
In the meantime, budget has been finalised for construction of DHH outdoor, administrative building and residential quarters for 100 families. Once it is approved, the construction would be completed in next two years, a report said.
While locals are happy over the shifting of the DHH, MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati requested the health minister to install advanced equipment to bring improvement in quality of healthcare services.
