Bhubaneswar, Feb 22: Jhilli Dalabehera of Orissa put up a splendid performance to bag three medals including two gold and a silver on the inaugural day of the National Weightlifting Championship at Patna, Monday.
Jhili participated in the women’s 48 kg category and lifted 60 kg in snatch to win a silver medal. She lifted 79 kg in clean and jerk event to clinch a gold. She also bagged another yellow metal after lifting a total of 139 kg.
Andhra University win
Andhra University registered a thumping eight wickets victory over Daffodil University, Bangladesh in a match of the KIIT Premier League (KPL) here Monday.
Opting to bat first, Daffodil scored 144 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs with the help of a half century by opener Amit Mazumdar (56, 48b, 6×4, 2×6). Nuruzzaman (28) and Moinul Islam(21) also played little cameos to give Amit good support. GD Suresh (4/23) bowled well for Andhra. P Varma and S Satyanarayan captured one wickets each.
In reply Andhra made a mockery of the run chase as they overhauled the total in only 11 overs for the loss of two wickets. KS Bharath (89, 4×4, 11×6) hit a brilliant half century to lead the run chase. CH Praneeth (34, 21b, 4×4, 2×6) also contributed well with the bat. Barring Narruzzaman and Raju Ahmed, who captured one wickets each, no other bowlers had any kind of impact on the opposition’s batsmen.
