Kendrapara: Subhasmita Tripathy, 13, a class VIII student of Pentha Project UP School, has been nominated to bag the coveted 2019 International Children’s peace Prize, instituted by Netherland-based International children’s rights organization – Kids Rights Foundation –for her fight against child labour and efforts to bring back dropouts to school.
Tripathy has been chosen from among 137 nominees from 56 countries across the world for the peace prize nomination in 2019. She was among ten nominees chosen from India.
The Nature Club of Kendrapara recently sent the case study of Subhasmita Tripathy to the New Delhi-based NGO ‘Save the Children’ by highlighting her contribution to the society.
Subhasmita’s case study drew praise and she won laurels for her effort to bring back school dropouts in her area and by helping children with their academics and also for her fight against child labour.
The winner will be announced September 30, 2019. The motivation behind the prize is to provide a platform for children to express their ideas and personal involvement in children’s rights.
Notably, Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai was also a recipient of the International Children’s Peace Prize award in 2013.
