Bhubaneswar: An all volunteer effort to promote classical music, “Aamad” was held at the Guru Kelucharan Research Centre in Bhubaneswar Sunday. The show is a solo platform for promotion of emerging musicians and music lovers. The effort is to dedicate the entire evening and night up to day break to classical vocal and instrumental music.
The conclave offers participation to musicians in large numbers allowing dissemination of Indian classical culture and music. The show was inaugurated by Pt Umesh Chandra Kar, Kulamani Sahu and Harmohan Khuntia.
A quarterly musical conclave, “Aamad” is a joint effort of Gurus and their deciples with the objective of providing a performing platform to teachers as well as learners and at the same time recreating interest in Indian classical music. Besides giving scope to new artists the objective of the musical night is to experience and appreciate the night ragas. The vocal and instrumental performances are set to the time of the night.
Interacting with Orissa Post Sangeeta Gosain, Chief Executive Officer) of Guru Kelu Charan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre, said, “The ragas are performed as per their designated time – at dusk Raag Patdeep, evening Raag Yaman, late evening Rag Bihag and Rageshree, at night Bageshree and Desh, at midnight Raag Malkaus and Darbari, pre-dawn Paraj and Basant, at dawn Lalit and Lalit Pancham, early morning Bhairavi and Bhairab.”
“Each time of the day has some Ragas dedicated to that time and performing them during the given time gives the best effect”, she added.
