Bhubaneswar, Nov 24: Manage Autism Now (MAN) trust will be conducting a seminar-cum-panel discussion December 4 on the occasion of its annual function to empahsise the problems faced by autistic children. The event will take place at Regional Medical Research Centre in Bhubaneswar.
The dignitaries who will attend the forum are experts in the related field from across the country. Another interesting segment of the event will be a poster-making contest where children who require special attention will take part.
The event is likely to be attended by Subroto Kumar Bagchi, head of Orissa Skill Development Authority, and retired AIIMS professor and a padma awardee Dr Subrat Kumar Acharya.
Swarnalata Mishra, chairman of MAN, said: “Special attention should be given to children with autism for their overall development. We cannot overlook various hidden talents in them and efforts should be made to hone their skills and bring them to the fore.”
She added that that an attempt would be made to create awareness among the parents of autistic kids and what could be done to enhance their talent, and grow both mentally and physically.
“In Bhubaneswar, there is a sizable number of autistic children who need special care, but unfortunately very few people care about them,” Mishra said.
MAN is primarily engaged in providing appropriate therapy to autistic kids by focusing on early intervention. It aims at improving communication, cognitive and social skills, and also enhancing attention span of such kids with the help of therapies, education, yoga and many other types of training. The trust is trying to bring a significant change and improvement in the lives of children affected with this disease.
