Berhampur: A man hanged himself at Minakshi Nagar (third lane) under Gosaninuagaon police limits here, late Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Ajit Kumar Panda (52). He is said to have committed suicide to avoid the agony of age-related problems.
He was unmarried and working as a laboratory technician at Royal College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in the area. Police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
A suicide note was recovered from his house where he claimed to have committed suicide out of his own volition as he did not want to undergo the pain and sufferings of old-age as experienced by his mother.
Ajit’s mother died a year back after suffering a lot due to old age. Ajit had shared the photographs of his mother’s pain and sufferings on his Facebook account.
He had described his feelings in the suicide note a copy of which he posted on is Facebook page before taking the extreme step. “We are waiting for the post-mortem to get over and the actual reason behind the suicide could be ascertained after its report is available to us,” Gosaninuagaon IIC Kulamani Sethi said.
