Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has movable and immovable assets to the tune of `2.51 crore – an increase of 52 per cent between 2014 and 2019.
Modi’s movable assets have seen a rise of 114.15 per cent in comparison to the assets he owned in 2014 when he contested his first Lok Sabha election. In 2014, Modi had movable assets worth `65,91,582.
His primary source of income is his government salary and interest earned on his savings.
As per the affidavit submitted by the Prime Minister to the Election Commission Friday, much of his movable assets come in the form of fixed deposits worth `1.27 crore in the State Bank of India.
Movable assets
Modi has mentioned that as on March 31, 2019, he had `38,750 as cash in hand. His bank balance, the affidavit says, is `4,143, but he has `1,27,81,574 as fixed deposits in the State Bank of India. In 2014, Modi had `32,700 as cash in hand, a bank balance of `26.05 lakh and fixed deposits worth `32.48 lakh.
The affidavit for 2019 Lok Sabha election states that Narendra Modi has investments worth `20,000 . The Prime Minister has savings worth `7,61,466 in the form of National Savings Certificates and `1,90,347 as life insurance.
Modi also owns four gold rings (45 grams in weight) that have a valuation of `1,13,800 (as on March 31, 2019). In 2014, valuation of these gold rings was `1.35 lakh (approx).
Unmovable assets
The total market value of the Prime Minister’s unmovable assets is `1,10,00,000 approximately. This is an increase of `10 lakh in comparison to the declarations made by him in 2014.
According to the affidavit, Modi owns a house (1/4 ownership) in Sector 1 Gandhinagar. In the 2014 affidavit, his unmovable assets were estimated to be worth `1 crore.
The Prime Minister does not have any liabilities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi filed his nomination papers for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat Friday, accompanied by a galaxy of top BJP and NDA leaders in a massive show of strength for the country’s ruling alliance. As the temple town virtually stopped in its tracks with roads cordoned off for traffic and crowds lining the streets to see the VIP cavalcade, Modi exhorted voters to not fall into the trap of those who say he has already won the election so it is fine to not exercise their franchise. Bihar Chief Minister and JD-U chief Nitish Kumar, Union Minister and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan, Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackarey and Shiromani
Akali Dal (SAD) patron Parkash Singh Badal were with Modi at the Collectorate.
