Gop: Suspended IPS officer and former Kendrapara SP Satish Gajbhiye’s wife, Ranjana Gajbhiye, and three others have been issued notices by the tehsildar of Gop asking them to vacate the government land they had allegedly acquired and started fish farming in four ponds located there.
The notice was also sent by Gop tehsildar Sunita Behera to three other people – Deepak Kumar Nanda, Kulamani Rout and Dilip Kumar Nayak – and they were asked to vacate the land within a month or else face forcible eviction. Behera sent the notices after getting information that despite restrictions imposed by the government, 200 electric poles had been put up around the four ponds on the land situated near Barakiapala Mouza under Barimunda revenue office in Gop block. Sources also said that fish farming was going on there illegally. The vigilance and revenue departments had conducted raids in the area earlier and found that Gajbhiye and others had purchased 40 acres of land and encroached upon around 22 acres of land nearby to conduct fish farming in the four ponds situated there.
After probing the matter, the government had declared Section 144 of CrPC in the area.
