Bhubaneswar: Odisha government Friday ordered compulsory retirement of eight officials including former Nimapara tehsildar who was arrested over a disproportionate assets case earlier this month.
In order to check corruption and inefficiency across the departments, the government took action against the eight corrupt officials under its 5T initiative, a source informed.
According to the source, former Nimapara tehsildar and in-charge sub-registrar Rama Chandra Jena were found in possession of over Rs 5 lakh in cash and five PAN cards during a Vigilance raid conducted November 2. He was suspended from his service following the raid.

The government ordered tehsildar Jena’s compulsory retirement after suspending him over three graft charges. Similarly, OAS officer and former Jagatsinghpur deputy collector Gourang Charan Mohanty has been given compulsory retirement for embezzlement of government funds, the source informed.
Besides, six other officials who were given compulsory retirement include OAS officer Alphonse Bilung, former superintending engineer (Irrigation) Bidhan Chandra Sahoo, two CDPOs of integrated child development services (ICDS) Meena Patra and Puspanajali Rath, former deputy excise superintendent Ajit Kumar Mohapatra and the cashier of Tihidi block Prabhakar Pradhan, the source added.
It is pertinent to mention, with the recent compulsory retirement order, the total number of officials who faced administrative action in Odisha over graft charge and dereliction of duty reached 130.
