Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) has extended the deadline for the ongoing door-to-door survey in three cyclone-affected districts of Odisha due to disruptions caused by Cyclone Arnab and the subsequent heavy rainfall.
As per the revised schedule, the survey in Ganjam district will continue until November 21, while officials in Gajapati and Kandhamala districts have been given time until November 14 to complete the exercise. The survey work in these districts was disrupted by heavy rainfall, adverse weather conditions and the breakdown of normal life following the cyclone. Field-level officials also faced difficulties in completing the exercise within the originally stipulated timeframe. Taking these challenges into account, the Commission decided to extend the survey period to ensure comprehensive coverage of all eligible households and the accurate completion of the exercise.
The original deadline for completing the survey was November 7. The Commission has directed the Collectors of the three districts to issue necessary instructions to all field-level officials and expedite the survey process. They have been asked to ensure that no eligible household is left out and that the exercise is completed within the revised deadlines. The extension will apply exclusively to Ganjam, Gajapati and Kandhamala districts. All other guidelines and instructions previously issued by the Commission regarding the door-to-door survey will remain unchanged.
