Bhubaneswar, March 11: Lalit Mohan Ojha’s all-round show propelled Paramount Sporting to a flourishing 72-run win over Solar Cricket Academy (SCA) in the NM Bhuyan Memorial cricket tournament at the BJB College Ground here Friday.
Opting to bat, Paramount openers Avaya Mallik (33) and Ojha (50) gave them a solid start adding 69 runs for the first wicket. Debasish Samantray (49) also played a handy knock to help their team score a challenging total of 227, which got all out in the penultimate (39th) over. Pradeep Dash (3/52) was the most successful bowler for SCA.
In reply, SCA were never on the chase. They lost wickets at regular intervals and eventually bowed out falling 72 runs short of the target. Only Ramchandra Behera (32) and Pradeep Dash (25) could give some resistance with the bat. Man of the match Ojha (2/39) followed his effective batting show with some good bowling.
Kirti steals show
Kirti Ranjan Bhuyan (7/43) was simply unplayable for Kalahandi players as Nayagarh restricted them for 132 in their first innings on the first day of the two-day Group-C encounter in the Kalahandi Cup cricket tournament at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Friday.
Opting to bat, Kalahandi were skittled out for a meager 132 with Manoj Singh (44) emerging as the highest scorer. In reply, Nayagarh also batted poorly and were reduced to 102/6 at stumps
