Nandapur: The Parata village in this block of Koraput district was cut off a year ago after the road connecting it was washed out in heavy rains.
The road funded under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana was constructed last year. But it was washed out due to the poor quality of the materials used. After the road was washed out, connectivity to the village was disrupted.
Similarly, a culvert built on the road without foundation was destroyed by the movement of heavy vehicles. As sand was used excessively in construction of the culvert its walls collapsed.
This blocked vehicle movement to Parata completely. Many accidents have also taken place at this spot due to poor condition of the road.
The public had requested the rural development department and the local elected representative to get the road repaired, but nothing was done.
Panchayat Samiti Member Arjun Kisrani, Nayab Sarpanch Gangadhar Golari, Rabi Talia, Madhab Golari, Ram Golari and Labkush Golari also endorsed the facts.
