Bhawanipatna: The district collector (DM) Sunday placed under suspension two panchayat executive officers (PEOs) of Madanpur Rampur block in Kalahandi district for allegedly misappropriating funds meant for development work.
The suspended officials are Rupadhar Majhi, PEO of Damkarlakhunta Panchayat and Krushna Mohan Das, PEO of Madanpur Panchayat.
According to the letters issued by the collector’s office, Rupadhar was alleged to have misappropriated funds to the tune of Rs 4.77 lakh. Similarly, Krushna Mohan allegedly embezzled funds amounting to Rs 2.95 lakh.
The accused PEOs have been asked to do duty at the office of Dharmagarh sub-collector during their suspension. They have also been directed not to go outside without official permission.
