Kendrapara: Tension prevailed near Ostapur-based IOCL petrol pump “Bharati Krushak Seba Kendra” as a motor cyclist allegedly made allegations of cheating petrol in measurement. As a result, locals protesting cheating by the petrol pump staged a dharna on Sanatsahi –Gandakhia road near the petrol pump.
According to police, Nityananda Moharana of B Adamarichapalli under Rajnagar block, Thursday came with his aunt to fill Rs 200 petrol on his bike at Ostapur-based IOCL’s petrol pump “Bharati Krushak Seba Kendra”. But the motorcyclist allegedly suspected that Rs 200 petrol has not been filled in his tank. He later examined the fuel and came to know that petrol pump employees allegedly cheated him in measurement. When he protested he was misbehaved by employees and the petrol pump owners.
Later, Nityananda Moharana, allegedly brought the matter to locals about the alleged matter. Tension prevailed near the petrol pump as the owner of the petrol pump indulged in fraudulent way to cheat customers without giving right quantity .
The Sadar police rushed to the spot and nabbed the manager of the petrol pump. Acting on the direction of District Collector Samarth Verma, District Civil Supply Officer (CSO) Rajnikant Das rushed to the spot with the officials of weight and measure department and conducted an inquiry.
The CSO later sealed the petrol pump and deployed police to guard the sealed petrol pump. Meanwhile, the CSO asked the manager of IOCL to visit the petrol pump to conduct an inquiry. After the inquiry, necessary action would be initiated against the petrol pump if it is found indulging in fraudulent way to cheat customers,
