Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Sunday broke his silence over allegations of discrepancies in election expenditure of his party during the 2014 general elections.
Patnaik told the media here after his five-day Delhi tour that the allegations are ‘‘malicious, fabricated and false. If needed, we will take legal action.”
Asked whether he saw a conspiracy behind such allegations, the Chief Minister said, “It looks like that, but as I have said, it is false and fabricated.”
The BJD chief expressed happiness over the overwhelming victory of his party candidate in the Nuapada ZP election, saying win in the BJP bastion, especially in the constituency of the saffron party’s state president Basant Panda, was remarkable. Notably, the BJP failed to bag even a single seat in the district. During his visit to New Delhi, Patnaik attended the bi-centenary celebration of Paika Rebellion. He met and congratulated the President-elect Ram Nath Kovind besides attending a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in honour of outgoing President Pranab Mukherjee at Hyderabad Bhavan.
