Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan said the 30-bed hospital built by NALCO under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds, in association with LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), will benefit more than 60,000 out-patients and can perform 6000 surgeries annually. The hospital will benefit more than 100 patients a day.

The eye hospital will provide free eye-care services to residents of periphery villages and BPL category families, residing in and around Angul district while the people of higher income groups could avail the facility by paying certain fee.

A team of eye-care specialists will provide comprehensive eye-care for uncorrected refractive error, cataract surgeries and medical care of glaucoma and retinal diseases, diabetic retinopathy and ocular surface disorders, among other diseases.

He thanked the Nalco authorities for finishing the work in time the

foundation stone for which was laid by Union Minister for Mines Narendra Singh Tomar three years back.

He said the problem which Nalco was reeling under in 2015 has been resolved as the public sector firm has made a profit of Rs 16,00 crore this year.

He however, advised the Nalco authorities to resolve the problems of the casual labourers and provide them with bonus as well as to include their names under the Pradhan Mantri Sram Bima Yojana. He advised the Nalco authorities to implement the recommendations of Seventh Pay Commission in the company.

He advised the Nalco authorities to build an overbridge between Nalco captive power plant and smelter plant on the national highway as the colony residents are facing a lot of trouble in commuting the stretch while directing them to make drinking water facilities for the residents of Gadarkhai.

He said residents in Munda hutting adjoining the Nalco unit will be rehabilitated and advised the Nalco authorities to work in close coordination with the district administration for the work.
