Bhubaneswar, March 26: Rajesh Nayak of Orissa, with four points, is sharing the top spot along with five others after the end of the fourth round of the IIIrd All India Bhubaneswar Fide Rating Chess Championships here Thursday.
Playing brilliantly Rajesh defeated higher-ranked opponent IM M Chakravarthi (2.5 points) of Maharashtra in a closely fought match. Among other Oriya players, Utkal Ranjan Sahoo (3.5) and Sunyasakta Satpathy (3) scripted wins. Utkal defeated S Adhitya of Tamil Nadu, while Sunyasakta overcame Aninith Srimani (2) of West Bengal.
FM Rakesh Kumar Jena (3.5), Binayak Rath (3), WGM Kiran Manisha Mohanty (2.5) and WCM Saina Salonika (2.5) played out draws in matches with their respective opponents. Rakesh held Lakshmi Narayan (4) of Tamil Nadu in a closely fought match. Binayak played out a drab draw with Syed Anwar Shazhli (3) of ICF and Kiran Manisha held Vatsal Singhania (2.5) of Jharkhand. Saina Salonika also played a stalemate with Dinesh Sinha (2.5) of Uttar Pradesh.
Among others Soumya Ranjan Mishra (3) and Vaibhav Mishra were beaten by GM RR Laxman (4) of ICF and WGM R Vaishali of Tamil Nadu respectively.
