Cuttack, Dec 20: Rising Students Club and Sunrise Club won their semifinal matches respectively to enter into the final of the FAO First Division Super League football tournament at the Barabati Stadium here Sunday. They will meet in the final Tuesday.
In the first semifinal, Rising Students pipped Radha Raman by a solitary goal. The first half was barren despite attacking football by both the teams. In the second half, Sk. Rohit scored the all important goal of the match for Rising Students in the 64th minute.
In the second semifinal, Sunrise Club triumphed over Rising Star 3-1. Sunrise started on an aggressive note and scored two goals in the first half. M Reguin drew first blood in the ninth minute. Ambika Lakra doubled the lead in the 38th minute and they ended the first half with a 2-0 lead.
After the breather M Soo Sairaj found the back of the net in the 80th minute for Sunrise again. Foreign import Adetola Abbey got one back for Rising Star just after two minutes.
Award for Pyari
Orissa forward Pyari Xaxa has been voted for the ‘AIFF emerging woman footballer of the year award’. The announcement was made by AIFF President Praful Patel at AIFF Annual General Body Meeting at Goa, Sunday.
“The award means the world to me and I am so happy that I could achieve this. I thank the AIFF for their constant support and exposure and without a platform provided by the AIFF, I don’t know where I would be,” Pyari stated. Furthermore, Football Association of Orissa (FAO) bagged the ‘2015 AIFF award for best grassroots prorgamme.’
