Gudvelipadar: Several thousand commuters have suffered due to bad roads in Gudvelipadar panchayat under Kantamal block of Boudh district.
Even cyclists find it difficult to take a ride on the bumpy roads, alleged the residents who have been demanding a concrete road to Gudvelipadar. However, officers, local MLA and the sarpanch have ignored the pleas of the locals, it is alleged.
Members of various political parties and ministers have promised to lay an all-weather road prior to elections but the condition of the road has never improved in the last decade.
Sources said, a murram road was laid from Gudvelipadar to Rakshyakuti at an investment of Rs 3 lakh by former Sarpanch Narendar Nayak in 2007. The road was washed away due to heavy rain subsequently. From then onwards, no road was reconstructed there.
Residents of Thillatinga, Dampalli, Rakshyasakuti, Silletpada, Purunapani, Gudvelipadar, Dhangjhol and Kuluramunda depend upon this road which connects Dahya and Bahusuni. As the road is in bad shape, people have to take a roundabout way to reach Dahya and Bahusuni.
When contacted, Gudvelipadar panchayat executive officer said a proposal has been sent to relay the road. However, the authorities have not sanctioned money for the purpose so far.
