Bahanaga: People representatives created a ruckus over utilisation of Phailin assistance at the panchayat samiti meet of Bahanaga block in Balasore Friday.
They wanted to know how the cyclone assistance of Rs 70 lakh was spent in 24 panchayats. It was learnt that the fund was mobilized in 15 panchayat only while nine were deprived of it, they pointed out.
Proposals for various developmental works were put forth at the meeting in the presence of block chairperson Saraswati Mahalik, ABDO Manas Kumar Choudhry, some ZP members, GPO Ramchandra Marandi and additional executive engineer Tarunakanti Nandi.
It was learnt that 19,091 beneficiaries were enrolled in KALIA in the block, but 2799 of them were found bogus.
Meanwhile, 10,000 more people have applied for KALIA afresh.
