Rourkela, March 26: Ahead of the likely visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi April 1, security has been beefed up in the Steel City.
While a dog squad has been
deployed by the police to inspect places like bus stands, railway station, hotels and restaurants, the administration has also taken up the task of cleaning the city.
Union minister of steel Rakesh Singh, SAIL chairman Chandrashekhar Verma and PMO officials visited the Steel City Thursday to inspect various arrangements and identify places where PM will visit.
“We have come here to finalise the venue where the function, in which the PM will participate, will be held and the places where the PM will visit. He is expected to stay for two hours
before leaving the Steel City,” said Verma. Meanwhile, renovation and expansion of the road from Airport to Rourkela Steel Plant via ring road have started.
The repairing of cracks on
different roads is also being done. Moreover, a new road from the entrance point of Rourkela Airport to aerodrome field has been developed under the supervision of Rourkela superintendent of police Anirudh Singh.
The function is expected to be held in the aerodrome field, sources said.
