Bhubaneswar: Security at Biju Patnaik International Airport has been beefed up in the run up to the New Year.
Acting on the directives of the director general of bureau of civil aviation security (BCAS), all necessary measures have already been put into use to thwart any untoward incident.
Following the standard operating procedure, security personnel are keeping a close vigil on any suspicious activity.
Sources said the vehicles as well as the passengers are being frisked with the help of metal detectors and sniffer dogs.
The vehicles going up to the terminal are not being allowed to be there for more than one minute, they added.
Even the ground staff of the airport are being checked and allowed into the airport only after producing documents proving their identity. While the CISF personnel are closely inspecting the incoming and outgoing planes, senior security officials are monitoring the visuals captured by 67 CCTV cameras installed at all strategic points, sources said.
Refusing to divulge the details for security reasons, BPIA director Suresh Chandra Hota said that security has been beefed up as per the direction of the BCAS.
