Angul, Dec 5: Acting on a tip-off, model police busted a sex racket at a hotel here and arrested two youths. The police also detained two sex workers during the raid Saturday.
Narayan Sahu of Jagatsinghpur and Diptimanta Sahu of Danra, Talcher were arrested while one of the two girls is from Bhanjanagar while the other girl is a native of West Bengal. A huge stock of condoms was seized from the hotel room at Maitrinagar in the town during the raid.
Police said all four of them had checked in to the hotel at about 11 am and was allotted room no-216 after Narayan produced his Aadhaar card as proof of identity. On a tip-off, police raided the hotel at about 3 pm and detained them. During the raid, used and unused condoms were found inside the hotel room.
Narayan and Diptimanta were arrested and the girls were detained after police found a lot of inconsistencies in their answers during interrogations. While the Bhanjanagar girl claimed the other girl is her relative, the latter’s answer to police did not match this. The Bhanjanagar girl even claimed to have married Narayan and had applied for registration of their marriage. Moreover, they were here on a tour.
When Narayan was questioned, he said he has come here in search of a job while Diptimanta claimed he was a distant cousin of the Bhanjanagar girl. The role of the hotel staff has also raised suspicion as they provided accommodation only on the basis of an Aadhaar card of one while letting others free.
While further investigations are on, police have established contacts with the girls’ family members to verify their antecedents.
