Bhubaneswar, Dec 15: In a bid to boost investment in downstream industries, the state is planning to come up with a new policy to promote the same, State Industries Minister, Devi Prasad Mishra said here Tuesday. “We already have a policy for downstream industries in MSME segment. However, to promote these industries across all industrial sectors, we are going to frame a new downstream policy,” Mishra said at a workshop on ‘Highlights of IPR 2015, Ease of Doing Business’.
On the proposed land bank scheme, he said Orissa Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) along with various district administrations has about 80,000 acres of land as of now under the land bank scheme. Government agencies have identified about 4,20,000 acres out of which 2 lakh acres are contiguous land patches. The state government plans to map 2 lakh acre of land under the Geographic Information System (GIS) platform, which investors can view.
Talking on the ease of doing business, principal secretary for MSME department, Gagan Kumar Dhal said the state government has chalked out fifteen points comprehensive action plan to improve the ease of doing business in the state. “The state government plans to conduct workshops and seminars on 10th and 11th of every month along with strengthening of single window mechanism through district facilitation centres. Appointment of brand ambassadors from successful entrepreneurs is also part of this plan which will help the state to improve its ease of doing business rank,” Dhal said. He also said that the state will also focus more on the MSME bazaar by adding numbers of products manufactured in the state.
