Bhubaneswar: Puri train arson case accused Ramchandran Subhas reportedly told the investigators during his polygraph test that he had met a Pakistani agent in Mumbai.
Government Railway Police (GRP) officers and National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials December 7 had conducted a polygraph test on Subhash of Tamil Nadu in state forensic science laboratory (SFSL) here. The test report of Subash was handed over to GRP officials Friday, sources said. During his polygraph test, Subash told the investigators he was a member of a terrorist outfit.
“Subash was reportedly employed by a terrorist organisation to set afire coaches in cities like Kolkata, Haridawar, Kharagpur, Bhubaneswar and Puri. NIA officials might take him on transit remand for further investigation into the case,” sources said. Earlier, Puri sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) court had transferred the serial train fire case to the district and sessions court here. Subhash was shifted from Puri jail to Jharpada jail Friday.
The polygraph test was conducted on Subhash after he reportedly kept changing his statement, according to sources in the Special Investigation Wing of Orissa Police, which is assisting the GRP and NIA in probing the sensitive case. The prime accused, who reportedly has a tea stall in Tamil Nadu, suddenly received a large sum of money from a person based in Jammu & Kashmir. The investigators have found a lot of such evidence, the sources said.
Earlier, a team of CID officials from Kharagpur and GRP officers from Haridwar had questioned Subhash in connection with similar incidents in the two cities. NIA SP Prashant Kumar and other officials of the central agency had questioned him November 28 after the Union home ministry handed over the investigation of the case to it.
